RAF has through the years installed hydroelectric power stations for farmers. These power stations have been of various sizes up to 250 kW.
Experience
RAF has installed hydroelectric power stations under different circumstances and is qualified to consult on choosing generators and water level control systems for such power stations.
Improved Automation
RAF has used its knowledge and experience to develop its own generators and operating systems.
Hydroelectric Power Installations
RAF helps companies and individuals making their own hydroelectric power station a reality. Many different factors need consideration when installing a hydroelectric power station. These factors include location, choosing equipment and further implementations.
RAF can then proceed in designing and installing equipment to complete an operating power station.
Power Station Generators
RAF has designed its own unique generator for power stations to better control the water level control system. It responds accurately and swiftly to loading in systems that are not connected to the main power system. Experience shows that the generator prevents unnecessary fluctuations in both voltage and frequency.
By applying a good generator to the system it becomes more stable and all distortions are minimized. The system becomes less prone to electrical disturbances that can affect sensitive computer equipment.
Specialized Equipment for Power Stations
Through the years RAF has designed various controls and specialized equipment for hydroelectric power stations. Different implementations and controls may be needed for different hydroelectric power stations. RAF has solved each specific case by using small help controls that control each specific case and they are subsequently connected to the main control system of the power station.
RAF has also designed a water level control system that controls the production of electrical energy through the water level in the reservoir. Thus it is secured that the amount of water used for creating energy never exceeds the amount of water flowing into the reservoir. The control system only uses measurements from the water machine so that no cables need to be laid to the reservoir.
Excess Energy
In order to make the hydroelectric power station efficient it is necessary to utilize all excess energy. One of the best ways to effectively utilize all produced energy is to sell all excess energy straight into the main electrical energy system.
Many factors need to be considered when selling excess energy into the energy system. One of the most important things is to negotiate prices and rates with each potential buyer. RAF offers producers help in negotiating so that they can attain the most profit possible when selling the excess energy.
RAF managed the installation of Sleitustaðir Power Project, which was the first farmer founded electricity system in the country to sell energy to the State Electric Power Works in Iceland. Therefore RAF can provide services to anyone who wants to start selling energy into the main electrical energy system whether it is single-phase or three-phase electric power.
